The Nut Shop strives to promote 'Australian Made' products using Australian raw materials and ingredients wherever possible.
All products are manufactured using passed-on 'family traditional' methods to achieve the freshest possible taste and texture. The Nut Shop uses only Pure Milk Chocolate (not compound), and all our Nuts are the largest and best quality available.
The Nut Shop manufactures a wide range of nuts - salted and roasted (in pure hi oleic unsaturated sunflower oil). Dry roasted (almonds, chocolate and candied, as well as a full range of Chocolates (fruit centres, nut clusters, creams and many others). Recent new lines include pure chocolate coffee beans and crunchy pecan brittle. The most popular lines are our famous Vienna Almonds, Cinnamon Almonds, Cashews and Macadamia products.

History
The Nut Shop is a family run business which was established in 1939 by Karl Mendels, father and grandfather to the present owners. the original shop in the Strand Arcade is still in its original location, and a popular stop for tourists and locals alike to puchase the famous "Nut Shop' Chocolate Macadamias and our 'traditional favourite' Vienna Almonds.
Some may still remember Karl cooking the Vienna Almonds (known as Vanilla Almonds during the war), by hand in large copper pans and the delicious smell wafting through the Arcade and out into the streets. In the early 1950's more products were added including marzipan, chocolate coated orange peel, brandy prunes, chocolate hazelnuts and in the later years our 'world renowned' Chocolate Macadamias.
Eventually our first factory was built in nearby Surrey Hills to manufacture the growing range of nut and chocolate products. During the next two decades production increased as well as the number of outlets, but after Karl's death, these were sold or franchised keeping the main 4 shops. The owners purchased a Macadamia farm at Lismore in northern NSW, to ensure continuity of supply. The 80's saw the next generation enter into the business.
The ever-growing popularity of Chocolate Macadamias soared as did other Macadamia and Australian products for the tourist and Duty Free market. The factory soon reached its capacity for both production and storage. there became an urgent need to find bigger premises, yet still remain close to our City shops and the airport, for ease of delivery. we moved into our present purpose-built factory in Waterloo in 1995.
The Nut Shop currently has 2 retail locations - 'The Strand Arcade' in the city of Sydney, and our Factory Retail Shop. Our Factory Shop sells direct to the public with some special prices as well as bulk quantity pricing structures.
